What Is The Difference Between A Quiche And A Frittata
Olivia Luz
A frittata is made up primarily of eggs with a bit of full fat dairy think.
Because the crust adds a certain amount of stability a quiche can handle more cream than a frittata. Perhaps the most obvious distinction. At a first glance the difference is in the crust. A frittata meanwhile is crustless and cooks more quickly.
A quiche is baked slowly in a savory pie crust pâte brisée. Also the quiche filling is custard made with beaten eggs and cream to which various toppings are added. Sour cream yogurt heavy cream or crème fraîche to prevent dryness and make it fluffy and custardy and any combination of fully cooked add ins for flavor. By comparison the frittata consists of only beaten eggs with toppings.
Quiche filling will always be encased in a pie crust whereas frittata has no pastry dough component. A frittata is a quiche without a crust. Which brings me to another important difference.
