A heifer can become a mother only once as they will be called cows after the first calf.
In other words heifers are like first time moms bull. A steer is a male animal that has been neutered. Bulls are male bovines that have not been castrated. Heifers on the other hand have yet to give birth.
Using everyday lingo the cows are the moms heifer. Heifer is an immature cow who has not yet given birth to the calf and therefore does not yet produce milk. A cow is a female animal that has had at least one calf. A mature male animal that is used for breeding.
The difference between a cow and a heifer is in their maturity. It s actually not that complicated. Cows describe female bovines after they have given birth for the first time. Once a heifer has a calf she automatically becomes a cow.
