Like slugs frogs have very moist skin so when they come in contact with salt or a saltwater solution it causes a burn like effect.

I would compare pouring salt on a slug as being in some ways similar to a banned abortion method where salt was injected into the womb and a fetus would die from lung damage from inhalation and having it s skin burned off by the salt. When you pour salt on a snail or slug the water is very rapidly pulled out of the cells of the snail s body by a process called osmosis. Because slugs have so much water in them the salt draws it out and the slug dies of dehydration within a minute or less.

An excessive amount of salt removes the water from an animal s cells and disrupts an internal equilibrium which leads to extreme dehydration. The slugs skin is permeable to water nutrients stay in but water can pass both in and out of it one of the reasons for the slug slime mucous is to prevent it from dehydrating when you pour salt. If you use enough salt the slug will lose so much water that it dehydrates dies and winds up looking pretty shriveled. It s true that slugs will dehydrate if you pour salt on them although i must say that the thought of standing there watching while the slug shrivels up seems uniquely unappetizing.

However pouring salt on a slug or snail doesn t actually melt them though it may appear that way. But it does cause their bodies to go through a horrific and probably excruciating process that transforms them into a bubbly shriveled and slimy mess. Furthermore what happens when you put salt on slugs. Salt can injure or kill frogs.

However the slugs don t scream for the simple reason that they don t have any vocal apparatus. Slugs bodies have lots and lots of water in them and as i am sure you know salt makes you dehydrated.
