Gums become black and discolored because the tissue in the area is necrotizing which means it s dying. The black coloration is a result of dead tissue or necrosis. This spot on your gums can be endogenous from a local or systemic process within your body or exogenous from an outside source. If you notice this type of lesion see your dentist.
