I Only Do What I See My Father Do

Just as i hear i judge.

I judge only as i hear. John 5 30 i cannot do a single thing of my own initiative. It was not that he did not have a will or a desire to do things. That makes sense of jesus saying that to see him is equivalent to seeing the father.

And do you therefore the things which ye heard from the your father. So jesus said to them truly truly i say to you the son can do nothing of his own accord but only what he sees the father doing. We need not with meyer limit the lord s vision of the divine things which he saw with the father to his premundane personality. John 5 19 therefore jesus answered and was saying to them truly truly i say to you the son can do nothing of himself unless it is something he sees the father doing for whatever the father does these things the son also does in like manner many many believers i find are trying to do the works of jesus they re trying to speak the words of jesus and yet he says i don t try to do the works.

Further as this word of god is also god jesus could not do anything apart from the father or independent of the father or in contradiction to the father. The issue is that jesus had come to do the will of the father and he was completely in subjection to the father. And i speak to the world those things which i have heard of him. The son is not able to do anything from himself or through my own initiative.

Going a little farther he fell facedown and prayed my father if it is possible let this cup pass from me. I speak the things which i have seen with the my father. Jesus said to them truly truly i say to you the son can do nothing of his own accord but only what he sees the father doing. And i believe it s a message for you.

The father and the son share the same being of god. While i don t always succeed i believe it s my calling and my message for others particularly with learning the gift of prophecy. Do what the father does. 26 i have many things to say and to judge of you.

Wrapping up i only want to do what i see the father doing has become my heart s desire. 28 then said jesus unto them when ye have lifted up the son of man then shall ye know that i am he and that i do nothing of myself. But he that sent me is true. I only do the works that i see the father doing for the son does the same works as his father.

Therefore in answer jesus went on to say to them. Yet not as i will but as you will john 5 30 i can do nothing by myself. Most truly i say to you the son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative but only what he beholds the father doing. For whatever the father does that the son does likewise.

They are utterly united at one in the godhead. And my judgment is just because i do not seek my own will but the will of him who sent me. Having laid this foundation we can then see why jesus would say that he could do nothing of his own initiative.
