What Is The Difference Between Static Electricity And Current Electricity
Camila Farah
The other differences between the static and current electricity are explained below.
The main difference between static and current electricity is that the term static electricity refers to situations where there is an excess of charges in a region without there being a net flow of charge whereas current electricity refers to cases where there is a net flow of charge in response to a potential difference. Static electricity is an imbalance of electric charges within or on the surface of a material. Current electricity is provided by batteries to operate gadgets and devices. The charge remains until it is able to move away by means of an electric current or electrical discharge.
There is always a magnetic field associated with current electricity but there cannot be a magnetic field in static electricity. It is a type of electricity that is built upon the surface of a substance. Whereas in current electricity the electrons are moving inside the conductor. The most significant difference between the static and current electricity is that in static electricity the charges are at rest and they are accumulating on the surface of the insulator.
Current electricity consists of flowing charges whereas static electricity consists of stationary charges. Static electricity is named in contrast with current electricity which flows through wires or other conductors and transmits energy. Electric charges moving through the wire conducts electricity. Current electricity is induced due to the movement of electrons.

Static electricity is caused by the build up of electrical charges on the surface of objects while current electricity is a phenomenon from the flow of electrons along a conductor. Static electricity can occur in both conductors and insulators but current electricity cannot occur in. Current electricity consists of flowing charges whereas static electricity consists of stationary charges.
