The main difference between convection and radiation is that convection is a mechanism of heat transfer which involves a mass flow of material.
Convection is a movement of heat energy within the liquid and radiation is a flow of heat energy due to electromagnetic waves. Radiation on the other hand does not require a medium energy is transmitted through space. In radiation heat transfer occurs through electromagnetic waves without involving particles. The main difference between conduction convection and radiation is conduction is nothing but the heat transfer from the hotter part to the colder one.
Radiation occurs when heat travels through empty space. In conduction heat transfer takes place between objects by direct contact. In conduction this happens through direct physical contact between two objects. The main difference between conduction convection and radiation is that conduction happens due to physical contact of solid when the temperature is increased.
Conduction occurs in solids while convection occurs in liquids. They allow thermal energy to be transported from one place to another. The heat transfer takes place due to the difference in temperature. Convection and radiation are both mechanisms of heat transfer.
