The fundamental difference between aerobic and anaerobic respiration is the usage of oxygen in the process of cellular respiration.
Aerobic respiration is much more efficient at making atp than anaerobic processes like fermentation. On the other hand anaerobic bacteria yeast cells prokaryotes and muscle cells perform anaerobic respiration. Without oxygen the krebs cycle and the electron transport chain in cellular respiration get backed up and will not work any longer. The by product of this process produces carbon dioxide along with atp the energy currency of the cells.
Anaerobic respiration is similar to aerobic respiration except the process happens without the presence of oxygen. The main difference between aerobic and anaerobic respiration is that aerobic respiration occurs in the presence of oxygen whereas aerobic respiration occurs in the absence of oxygen. Aerobic respiration requires oxygen in order to generate energy molecule atp where as an anaerobic respiration synthesize atp by using the electron transport chain with inorganic molecules other than oxygen. Aerobic glycolysis occurs in oxygen rich environments whereas anaerobic glycolysis occurs in oxygen lack environments.
Hence it produces a large amount of atp than anaerobic glycolysis. Aerobic respiration occurs in the cytoplasm to mitochondria while anaerobic respiration occurs in the cytoplasm only. Aerobic respiration as the name suggests is the process of producing the energy required by cells using oxygen. All living cells must undergo a process referred to as cellular respiration.

It produces a by product of energy carbon dioxide and lactic acid. The cells use glucose and oxygen to produce carbon dioxide water and energy. Aerobic respiration requires oxygen whereas anaerobic respiration takes place in the absence of oxygen.
Most of the plant and animal cells use aerobic respiration. Aerobic respiration is the process of breaking down glucose using oxygen.
