Camila Farah
Falcons heads are usually short and rounded whereas hawks including accipeters buetos and eagles have sleek pointed heads.
The main difference between hawk and falcon is that hawk is bigger with wider wings that are rounded from ends whereas falcon is smaller in size with long wings that are lean and have pointed ends. They confine their hunting activities to ground dwelling animals. Hawks are ground hunters. Less reliable distinguishing features include hawks long tails and falcons striking facial markings.
Although the hawk and falcon are similar in characteristics there are several features where the two birds differ.
