All teams are groups but not all groups are teams. There is only one head in a group. A team allows for better syncing of efforts streamlining of the organization and better risk management. A team is technically a group but a group is not necessarily a team.
A team can have more than one head. The group members do not share responsibility but team members share the responsibility. A group is a collection of individuals who coordinate their individual efforts. Simply calling a group a team does not make it true.
A team is considered to work interdependently and is committed to achieve one common goal. A teams accomplishes things and do better under a lot more pressure stress and circumstance than a group. A team s strength depends on the commonality of purpose and interconnectivity between individual members whereas a group s strength may come from sheer volume or willingness to carry out a single leader s commands. A team is understood to be a group wherein thought goes into its formation.
