Enchilada as a dish gets explained as a tortilla role that is filled with mostly chicken or mutton meat and served with a chili sauce.
Main difference the main difference between enchilada and burrito is that the enchilada is a corn tortilla rolled around a filling and covered with a chili pepper sauce and burrito is a mexican food consisting of a wheat flour tortilla wrapped or folded into a cylindrical shape to completely enclose the filling. There is not a mexican alive that eats enchiladas as if they were a baked casserole with melted cheese and a protein inside. One of the main differences between enchiladas and burritos is in the type of tortilla used. While corn is used for making enchiladas wheat flour is used for making burritos.
Enchiladas are smothered in sauce while burritos are wrapped up and eaten with the hands. Remeber enchiladas are made with corn tortillas probably the biggest difference between an enchilada and burrito. While both have similar ingredients and sauces burritos almost always use flour tortillas while enchiladas use corn tortillas. A burrito can have meat beans or both along with other fillings like cheese lettuce tomatoes etc all wrapped up inside a usually flour tortilla.
So what happens if you smother a burrito with chili sauce. An enchilada is usually some kind of meat ground beef chicken shredded beef goat wrapped in a corn tortilla and covered in a spicy sauce and cheese. The corn is filled with beef cheese chicken and other things which go into the making of enchiladas. Red enchilada sauce is most common but green enchilada sauce based on tomatillos is a worthy option too.
