God s festivals mentioned in leviticus 23 are biblically sanctioned and were commanded forever. Many people are aware that popular holidays such as easter halloween christmas etc. The passage often cited is jeremiah 10 1 16 but this passage refers to cutting down trees chiseling the wood to make an idol and then decorating the idol with silver and gold for the purpose of bowing down before it to worship it see also. The bible nowhere instructs christians to celebrate holidays such as christmas easter thanksgiving valentines day memorial day labor day independence day birthdays anniversaries etc.
To many however such facts and what god thinks do not really matter. He who regards one day as special does so to the lord. It says starting in verse 5 that one man considers one day more sacred than another. No one in the bible ever observed an annual religious holy day in memory of jesus birth nor does the bible ever authorize the practice.
Christians all over the world celebrate easter sunday as a special day. It is a human religious ritual formed in pagan idolatry and religious apostasy. Another man considers every day alike. If you look into its history though you will see the true meaning of easter it is a tradition based on ancient fertility rites.

God s holy days teach us how to live godly lives and give us hope by explaining his plan of salvation. Another argument against christmas especially having a christmas tree is that the bible forbids bringing trees into our homes and decorating them. Romans 14 lays out the proper christian perspective in regard to food drink and special days. A biblical look at christmas easter and halloween in the 4th century when christianity became the state religion of the roman empire and pagans were forced to join the christian church church leaders knew that not all these new believers understood or believed the gospel.
3 16 17 the scriptures provide to all good works. This leads some to refrain from observing these celebratory days even those that are considered christian holidays.
