Known in spanish as el día de los muertos this unofficial but widely observed holiday is celebrated on november 2nd each year primarily in the central and southern regions of mexico. It s not a gloomy or morbid occasion rather it is a festive and colorful holiday celebrating the lives of those who have passed on. The two day remembrance stands out because of its festive nature where celebrations are replete with food and drink and family members decorate the grave sites of their loved ones with candles flower petals and sweets.
